Shoutout to the Sisterhood Month
Hello beautiful soul!
We hope you are doing well in this beautiful beginning of March! We can feel that spring is coming soon and we are so excited just thinking about it! We can't wait to go outside in one of our fave La Pimbêche hoodies!
At La Pimbêche, we especially look forward to March 8th every year with IMPATIENCE! I guess you probably know why… Well, yes! March 8th is International Women's Day! Yay gurl! As a small local business created and run by a woman, this day means so much to us.
As you know, La Pimbêche is all about women’s solidarity, gender equality and inclusion. For us, giving back to our community, joining forces with other fabulous women and by combining our respective strengths is one of our highest priorities. We find it very important to take the time to support our sisters and give them the credit they sooo deserve! As the old saying goes: Alone we go faster, but together we go further! 😍
On that subject, if you didn't know yet, La Pimbêche is not a one woman show anymore, but an amazing team of proud and badass women! By the way, if it’s possible it’s because of you so THANK YOU so much for supporting us and for following us on our blog! We feel very lucky to be able to live all this and to grow with you.
About International Women's Day
First of all, let's talk about International Women's Day, also called International Women's Rights Day in some countries like here, celebrated every year on March 8th! In fact, that important day is highlighting the history of the struggle for women's rights and aiming to abolish gender inequalities.
At La Pimbêche, we find it very important to take advantage of this occasion to talk about intersectional feminism, a feminism that recognizes the particularities of different communities and that takes into consideration the plurality of women's realities here and elsewhere, whether it is in terms of economic and cultural differences, beliefs, politics and more.
On one hand, International Women's Day serves to celebrate the accomplishments of women today and to remind us of all the road covered by those who have fought for our rights. Sometimes, we even take for granted everything they fought so hard for (voting, studying, having a bank account, exercising the profession of our choice, etc.). Let's think of Ruth Bader Ginsburg who is one of those women who fought for equality between the sexes, of Lv Bicheng who defended the emancipation of women and fought for their education and their right to vote, as well as of Olympe de Gouges (Marie Gouze of her real name) who is considered as one of the pioneers of French feminism, but she was above all a humanist. These three women (and so many others!) were pioneers in the advancement of women's rights. Although, we must recognize that these rights are a privilege in rich countries and do not represent the global rights of women everywhere else in the world.
On the other hand, International Women's Day is also an opportunity to remind ourselves that the struggle is far from over. This day serves to highlight and thank those who are still fighting today for the advancement of gender equality and are fighting against violence, discrimination against people of diverse gender identities, racialized communities, the LGBTQ2S+ community, women and children.
Today, there are several related issues that need to be discussed and denounced for the advancement of equality rights. The fight against domestic violence, the scourge of feminicide, transphobia, the emotional burden on women within the family, the patriarchy rooted in our roots, rape culture (locker talk, slutshaming, etc.), grossophobia, sexual objectification of the female body, inequalities and violence against the LGBTQ2S+ community, racialized communities, women and children, and so on...
This day is a call to all of us (AKA all genders) to make a collective effort to contribute to the advancement of gender equality in our daily lives, to question patriarchal language and limiting beliefs, and to support each other in moving towards an inclusive world.
Latest news at La Pimbêche
To celebrate the International Women's Day, but also to shout out loud our wish to live in a more positive world, especially with more feminine solidarity and sisterhood, we created two beautiful designs on this theme that we are super proud of!
Tadaaaa! A new t-shirt available in two colors on which you can read the powerful quote: Empowered Women Empower Women!
This beautiful t-shirt will allow you to proudly show your values of women's solidarity and support! But what makes this t-shirt even HOTTER and more unique is that it will allow you to put these values into action through a donation to an organization that help women and all gender in need.
For every Empowered Women Empower Women t-shirt sold during the month of March 2022, $2 will automatically be donated to SOS Violence Conjugale to give back to our community and continue to help women on their journey. It's here for the black t-shirt and here for the white t-shirt!
Clearly this t-shirt will become an essential in our spring wardrobe!
Last month, we also added to our website a brand-new version of our famous Fierce Like Frida crewneck. The new colors chosen - red, pink and purple - are so vibrant and inspiring! If this strong and proud woman inspires you as much as she inspires us, this crewneck is definitely a must have in your wardrobe!
