Why opt for a customized garment?
Wearing a conventional garment or a customized garment: which would you choose?
If you ask us, we would choose a customized garment, without hesitation. The magic that separates a customized garment from a conventional garment, or a garment for commercial purposes that will be produced in quantities and then sold, does not have many qualities that represent us as individuals in a society.
Sometimes, we will want to wear clothing that represents us for who we are. And we can do that by customizing our garments. It can be a shirt, a jacket, a hat or a pair of pants. Imagine the impossible and you will be surprised that any garment can be personalized. Even our phone cases are customizable.
If you still don't agree with us, we'll show you 3 reasons why personalized garments are a great resource to add to our closets.
3 reasons to choose a personalized garment
It's hard to pick just one reason to consider wearing a personalized garment, in our day to day lives. However, we believe that wearing them brings greater personal benefits, and helps our emotional well-being.
Unique style
We live in the 21st century, an era of admirable inclusivity, and that is present in fashion.
Fashion is a trend-setting aspect of our society, in terms of what kind of clothes and designs we should consider wearing. But it won't always be everyone's taste and for everyone. Everyone has their own unique style of dress, and that is an idea we should always keep in mind.
Customized clothing works precisely to highlight your style, through designs that you can design yourself, designs that can hardly be duplicated for commercial purposes.
Your opinion counts
It is in opportunities like this that we can make our opinion count.
In the customization of your garments, your opinion is the basis of the whole process. The choice of fabric, the selection of colors, the sizing, the creation of the design, the choice of the company that will customize your garments: every technical aspect will be essential in the process, and your opinion will guide the way.
You support emerging artists
A much more generous aspect of garment customization is the support of emerging artists in the area of print.
An initiative that has been around for quite some time, and is still going strong with the latest generation of artists. Imagine from street artists to the most successful artists in the art world: all are supported by a community loyal to their creations. The loyalty of their followers is a great tool for inspiration, for more and more amazing works to come.
For garment customization artists, the timeline is not an unexpected intervention. Rather, it's an alternative to continue to grow and create new designs that we'll all want in our closets.
And for our emerging artists at La Pimbêche, the invitation to be known by our customers will always be present, to make their creations known, and in our case, handmade custom creations are our favorite items.
Social and political aspects of personalized garments
One of the paths that garments have taken, in the past decades, has been the presence in the social and political sphere, being these the predominant ones in a number of areas, with external references to clothing.
Garments with messages supporting social or political causes
It is not at all new to see personalized garments in a protest, for a particular cause, or a social movement to prohibit some practice that harms society and what surrounds it (protection for animals, companies, school or university movements, etc.).
Garments with personalized messages have gone viral to such an extent, that it goes beyond a social or political purpose, and can end up in a cultural and fun affinity, for those who wear it. Their messages are varied, and embody concrete ideas and massively controversial thoughts, with the intention of bringing a specific topic to debate.
Personalized family, romantic or friendly garments
This is another side of garment customization.
On social networks, such as Instagram or Facebook, it is very common to see families portraying their faces with shirts, sweaters, or t-shirts with a familiar design, very characteristic of themselves.
Often, the designs for this type of garments are varied: it can be an image of the people, a famous message, such as "Winter is coming", coming from the Game of Thrones series, cartoons, movie or TV stars, etc.
The reality is that the choice of design varies, depending on the person. Whether it is for romantic and friendly purposes, or all that is valid, as long as it is not disrespectful: or at least that you are willing to suffer the consequences, if so.
Initiative for social groups, schools, organizations and more
Garment customization can also be found in schools, universities, organizations and social groups, to name a few.
These garments have a different approach than the above, as they take education and social intentions, to cause good in communities. Wearing garments together shares much more of a peer-to-peer relationship and support each other.
How to take care of your customized garments
You may not know it yet, but custom garments have other regulations, when it comes to the washing process. And to keep your garments in good condition, it will be convenient to follow them, and so their use will last for a long time.
Rules for washing garments that have undergone a personalization process (silk-screen printing, fabric painting, among others):
#1 Wash inside out
It is more advisable to wash the garments in a washing machine, since washing them by hand may damage the structure of the personalization on the garment. In the washing machine, do not forget to turn the garment inside out, as this will take care of the design of buttons, zippers, or any other item that is within the wash cycle.
#2 Wash at low temperature
Washing with cold water damages any fabric, customized or not. If you want to preserve your garments longer, resort to washing them with low temperature water, and your designs will be able to stay on the garments longer.
#3 Air dry garments
Another great rule is to dry your garments with the heat emitted by the sun's rays, and the temperature in the environment. Drying it in the dryer will damage your garment 100%. Do you ever wonder what those "lint" inside the dryer are? Well, they are the remains of your garments, which deteriorate over time.
#4 Iron the garment inside out
If you iron the garment directly on top of the design, you can permanently damage it. The high temperatures emitted by irons will cause the design to deteriorate, so ironing inside out will prevent this from happening, and you will take care of the garment in the process to eliminate wrinkles.
If you follow these tips, you will be more than ready to have your garments personalized, and take care of them over time. Use your creativity and imagination, and create amazing designs to capture everyone's attention with the messages displayed on your garments.
